Friday afternoon, the Elementary Building wrapped up Read Across America Week by Reading Around the Classrooms. Students moved from classroom to classroom hearing fun stories from our teachers and doing activities like cup stacking and break out rooms.

Thursday, the Gresham Band Students took a trip to see the Madison Symphony Orchestra Concert. They had a great time and experienced an amazing concert!!!

Senior Spotlight, Abigail Hohensee.

First day of practice outside for the Gresham-Bowler Track team yesterday and athletes broke the ribbon before heading around the newly surfaced track for the first time.

Bio II class started these bean plants from seed using only moistened paper towels and have continued to nourish only with paper towels and nutrient water.

3rd Grade were making beautiful music in Music Class today while playing bells.

Preschool had a ton of fun today in Music Class. They played bells, played drums and clapped rhythms.

Today the JH and HS Choirs had a real treat. Professor Brandon Torres from Puerto Rico and Dr. Kevin Meidl from Appleton paid the choirs a visit and held a workshop for our young Gresham Singers. The students learned about life in Puerto Rico and learned some valuable singing skills brought to them by Prof. Torres. What a great day to be a Wildcat!!!

Read Across America Week is coming March 4-8! Here are the dress up days.

Dear Parents and Community members,
This morning, Gresham School District was made aware of the rumor of a threat against the school. We started investigating immediately. We informed the Stockbridge-Munsee police department and they responded. The police investigated and concluded that the rumor was false and stemmed from an incident in the Gresham community that was unrelated to the Gresham School District.
Gresham School District is committed to keeping the staff, the students, and the community safe. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact me at 715-787-3211 ext 850.
Sincerely,
Newell E. Haffner
District Administrator

The Gresham Fine Arts program had a very successful weekend with students participating in Solo and Ensemble at Northland Lutheran. Cami Gourley and Emily Jensen both scored a 1* and will be competing at State Solo and Ensemble this year!!! Please congratulate them when you see them. Also, Addison Fischer scored a 1 with her piano piece as well. Way to go Addison!!! We are very proud of these girls and all their hard work!!

Students in Horticultural Class made a fruit pizza plant cell in class today to finish their lessons on Cellular Biology!

A few Gresham Students with the help of Sabrina Miller, made ribbon skirts. They all had fun doing the skirts, and we will be having a second group of students soon. Then on to moccasins.

The 7th graders have been working very hard on their Topic 4 math projects! The students have the choice of four different projects to complete, and they can choose to work with a partner or individually.
Expressive Expressions - For this project, they needed to write and illustrate a children's book called "Expressive Expressions." In the story, there needed to be an unknown value represented with an emoji, and they needed to demonstrate the different ways to generate equivalent expressions involving simplifying, factoring, adding, subtracting, or expanding expressions.
Guaranteed Equivalence - In this project, the students needed to write an algebraic expression for a real-world situation. There needed to be at least two variables with coefficients, including once decimal and one fraction. They needed to generate ten expressions that look different from the original expression, but are equivalent to it. The final project included a poster showing all the expressions and how they are equivalent.
The Perfect Playground - In this project, the students are given an empty lot with a width of 51.5 feet and a length of 30 feet to develop a new playground. They are allowed to increase the length of the lot by clearing some debis, but this is an unknown amount. They needed to divide the lot into four quadrants and design a piece of playground equipment for each section. The students sketched a design and built a model of their playground. They needed to write algebraic expressions for the areas of each quadrant and the entire lot.

The 6th graders have been working very hard on their Topic 4 math projects! The students have the choice of four different projects to complete, and they can choose to work with a partner or individually.
Fitness Fun - The students needed to keep an exercise log for 7 days for completing burpees. On Day 1 they needed to time how long it took them to complete 5 burpees and then increase the amount by 5 each day for seven days. In their exercise log, they needed to predict how long it would take them to complete the set of burpees and then record the actual results. After the data was collected, they graphed and analyzed their data.
Step It Up! - In this project, the students made a model of a staircase following certain rules. The staircase needed to follow a linear pattern using identical blocks. They needed to keep track of the number of blocks needed for each step, organize the data in a table, and model the pattern using an equation.
Plan a Race - The students needed to research an animal to race against a snail which moves at an average speed of 0.66 inches per minute. They needed to determine a race distance and give the slower animal a head start. The race needed to be represented using a graph, table, or equation. Using the representations created, they needed to predict which animal would win the race and organize the results on a poster.

Gresham has a large group of about 20 new and continuing middle school knitters (here are a few of them). We are still making great use of the supplies the community has donated over the past few years, but we are getting a bit low on bulky yarn. If you have any bulky or thicker yarn you'd be willing to donate, we'd be happy to have it (or any other knitting supplies you would like to share). Thanks so much for your generosity toward our knitting club; we're very grateful!

The 5th grade boys team beat Shawano and Crandon and lost to Rhinelander by 3 in the championship game at Shawano Optimist Tournament on Saturday. Great job boys!
