Orange Shirt Day, observed annually on September 30, is a day for remembering and honoring the Indigenous children who were forced into Canadian residential schools and suffered abuse, neglect, and the loss of their culture and identity. The day was created by Indigenous communities to raise awareness about the trauma and intergenerational impacts of these schools and to promote truth, reconciliation, and a commitment to a future where "Every Child Matters". The orange shirt serves as a symbol of this forced assimilation and loss, inspired by the experience of Phyllis Webstad, whose new orange shirt was taken from her on her first day at a residential school.

The fourth grade class had a busy day of learning on a recent field trip to Shawano. They learned about Wisconsin history at Heritage Park, toured the Shawano County Library, and learned some business tips at Old Glory Fudge and Candy Shop. They had a great day!
It is parents night on Monday Sept 29. Games start at 4:00 pm. Parents will be announced between 6/7th and 8th grade games.

Today was Michelle Hoffman's last day at Gresham School District after 18 years. She began her school career as a 4K aide and finished as an office secretary. She has helped our school in several ways, including coaching volleyball for many years. She will be greatly missed. We wish her the best of luck at her new job!
