Students wrapped up their speeches today. Speaking on the issues of the tariff and unions, Champ Clark and Oscar Underwood presented their ideas while W.E.B. DuBois and others argued about the value of unions. Finally, we heard from the presidential candidates one last time as we head into Election Day tomorrow! I also spied some of the candidates talking to party members as they worked to nail down last minute support!

Hi my name is Bailey Bowman! I am participating in the Unite Walk for Bleeding Disorders held by the Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation. I’m walking for my little brother Emmett who has Hemophilia Type A Severe. This means he has no clotting factor in his blood. The money raised from this walk will help programs that help Emmett and others like him. The money raised stays locally and 100% of the money raised goes to the programs. Please help me raise money for a program that helps make life a little more easy for people with bleeding disorders. I have included a link to my donation page if anyone is interested in helping. Thank you https://www.unitewalkforbleedingdisorders.org/participant/85415

US History I students have been participating in a Reacting to the Past game about the Election of 1912. All students are assigned a historical character to portray and must write and perform speeches in character about issues of the day as they decide which candidate to support. So far, the following issues have been addressed: big business, immigration, direct democracy, and women’s suffrage. Speakers this week included Jane Addams, Victor Berger, Ida Tarbell, William Jennings Bryan, and Louis Brandeis. Candidate speeches from Governor Woodrow Wilson, President Taft and former President Teddy Roosevelt kicked off at their party conventions on Wednesday. Stay tuned next week for speeches from W.E.B. DuBois, Samuel Gompers, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, and others! Save the date for Election Day next Friday! Who will win??
