Have you ever thought about what's inside a bulletproof vest that is strong
enough to stop a bullet? That material is called Kevlar, a fiber that is five
times stronger than steel. Kevlar is named after the scientist who invented
it, Stephanie L. Kwolek. She went to work as a scientist in 1946, when women
weren't welcomed in science laboratories. Despite the discrimination she
faced, she stayed in the lab, worked hard, and eventually applied for
twenty-eight different patents as a result of her discoveries.

I never thought in my life that my only goal was to be
happy. I think my goal was to be productive - and along
the way, being productive has made me happy.
